our humble abode

This week we moved into our first home :) I have been having such a fun time organizing all of our stuff and finding places for all of our wedding gifts. I LOVE having my own new and clean kitchen items. After living with room mates for 4 years I started to look forward to the day when I would have my own blender, kitchenAid mixer, pots and pans, silverware, plates, the list goes on.

Another perk is that I am always motivated to clean! In the past few years, I have had my fair share of messy room mates and i gradually detested cleaning up after people. But I have realized i don't even care that i have to clean up now because i love dev so much- cheesy i know, but its the whole truth!

Here are some pictures of our humble abode:

our bed. I love pottery barn.

Some of our lovely appliances:

My cute KitchenAid. (With "Remember the Titans" playing in the background)

Dev chillin on our couch. We were so lucky because our apartment complex just bought new couches for the apartments and so this baby is bran spankin new! (Notice the cute pillows- thanks to my best friend L)

A full view of the kitchen. Notice our new bar stools that Devin assembled. What a man!

Afghan Orphan Project 5k

This morning Devin and I got up bright and early to run a 5K in Orem. It was to raise money for an orphanage in Afghanistan. It was a lot of fun and we finished in 27 minutes!! A personal record for me :) We had a lot of fun running together and it was a great way to spend our last Saturday morning of the summer.

There was a sweet band playing at the finish line.

We saw this car parked on the side of the road. We love hilarious Chuck Norris jokes. But seriously, who writes on their car? as if the huge dent wasn't bad enough...

why i love my sister

Why I love my sister and her husband.

Almost one year ago I had to come up with a "creative project" for my psychology class using different psychology terms we had learned that semester. I decided to make a video of my friends and family applying the given terms to their lives. I interviewed my sister at our family tailgate party and the video below is what she came up with. The term I gave her was: Performance Approach Goals. This is what she came up with. (Notice Brad lurking about in the background.) I had to put this part of the video up because i thought it was so hilarious and it made me miss her :)

The move from PC to P-TOWN

Moving from Park City to Provo has been a bittersweet experience for us. We had an amazing summer in Deer Valley and so it is hard to come back to the heat of "happy valley" to start school again. However, I have to admit that I have missed Provo at the same time. There are 4 years worth of good memories in this college town and so it is fun to be back.

What I will miss about PC:

1. The weather and temperature of the mountain air. It usually was about 75 to 80 degrees in the day and 60 at night. PERFECTION

2. My sweet job at the alpine slide and the awesome tan-line it gave me. (Notice my ankle tan in the picture)

3. The cabin we lived in- thanks to Devin's parents.

4. Having my own gym and pool. -- ok...they weren't just mine, but because of the lack of people staying in park city in the summertime, it was as if I had everything to myself.

5. The pretty views and sunsets

So back to Provo we go!... Below are some moving pictures. Hopefully in a few days our apartment will be completely unpacked so that I can post some more pictures!

Our cute little apartment :)

sooooo many boxes.

Cruisin' the Caribbean

This week we went with Devin's family on a cruise to the Caribbean. We started in Cape Canaveral, Florida and went to St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and Nassau. It was definitely fun to spend more time with Devin's family as the summer comes to a close. There is never a dull moment with them...

This is our cruise ship docked at St. Thomas

There were 2 awesome water slides on the boat.

While we were in Nassau we went to the waterpark at Atlantis!! It was soooo cool and the water slides were sooooooooooo scary!!!! I was shaking after going down a couple of them and there was one slide that went through a shark tank- that was frightening after watching Shark Week on Discovery Channel the whole week before...

There were random fish tanks all over and this is one with sharks in it and these gigantic-weird looking fish. Look how huge it is compared to Dev and Sean.

SCARY!!!!!

Dinner on the Cruise. We had the best waiters ever! they were so cute!

Our waiter

At our table.

Birthday Dinner for Steve.

While we were in St. Maarten we went horseback riding down the beach! It was so much fun. My horse's name was Paco. He was very good to me - never bucked me off and always obeyed me. The only trouble he ever made was when he bit Devin's horse, but even then it didn't really affect me because it just made Dev's horse jump around :) Ryan and Sean (Dev's bros) made the mistake of saying they were "expert riders" because they automatically were given the stubborn, mean horses to ride.

My favorite kind of horse! Brown with a white star on its forehead ( i loved horses when i was little- it could be called an obsession)

yee ha!

At the end of the ride we got to go into the water and let the horses swim around. It was so cool!! The horses make these weird growling noises to fill up their lungs with air and then they can swim in pretty deep water!

I got one of those really stretchy "one size fits all" shirts at the airport. When I showed it to Devin he thought it was very strange how small it was. He thought it was for a doll.

This is a picture of me wearing the shirt. See? It stretches quite nicely.

Weekend in LA

This weekend we went to LA to visit Devin's dad, Bob. We had a lot of fun, as always!

The first morning, Dev and Bob woke up at about 5 am to go and watch a surgery. That's a little intense for me, so I slept in.

Later on we went to an awesome yoga class that was so hard that I'm still sore (it was almost a week ago)! It was dev's first time, but he was really good and really flexible. He must get it from his father.

We went to a Dodgers game which was really fun! we had great seats and it was a lot better then going to see the Salt Lake Bees- no offense...

Can you see the resemblance??

We got ice cream and they serve it in these cute mini dodger hats. mine was pink :)

Back in the old days, I had a phase where i loved the show "Newly Weds" with Nick Lache and Jessica Simpson. Turns out, their old house where it was filmed is just around the corner from Bob's. So, of course, I had to drive past it and text all of my friends about it.

Devin was embarrassed and wouldn't get out of the car

We went to the grand opening of a mall in santa monica. It was really awesome and they even have a burberry section- my favorite!!

Dinner at Houston's.

Basically it was a really fun trip and we can't wait to go again! Its always fun to see Devin's dad and see where Devin gets his sense of humor!

Temple/sushi night

Last Thursday my family met at the Jordan River Temple and then went to get sushi after. Perfect combination if you ask me!!

This first picture is really quite funny and after I took it I laughed so hard I pulled a muscle in my back... weird i know. I'm putting you to the test- why is this picture so funny?

This one is just a cute family pic... and it includes the typical "Ashley pose"

Devin likes to play with his chopsticks. Sometimes I forget he is 22 and not 5.

This was way cool! Can you see the face? Yes I am one of those people who sees faces and images in their food... I get it from my mom who thinks one of the boulders at our house has Jesus' face on it.

"The Most Wonderful Time of the Year..."

As Discovery Channel likes to call it, it is "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year..." aka: SHARK WEEK!! All week long there are TV shows all about sharks, shark attacks, sharks, what to do in a shark attack, sharks.... and that's about it. But it is REALLY intense and Devin and I have become a little addicted... Which has led to all of my dreams being about sharks. Quite frightening if you ask me.
