rafting the provo

We made it back from Europe and I've finally decided to blog! I've been a little out of it the last week. Who new jet lag could be so rough?

On Saturday we went rafting down the provo river with ash, brad,my dad, and neighbor Bob. If you've already looked at my sister's blog, you can stop here because I basically took all of her pictures from her blog. Thanks ashers :)

Last day in Roma

I can't believe today was our last day. This trip has been way fun and such an adventure! We are sad to leave but pretty dang excited to get back to America. Things I'm excited for: ice, cell service, oatmeal/American breakfast food, clean clothes!!

Today we got up bright and early to go to the Vatican! It was so cool to see the Sistine chapel and st peter's basilica! We loved it!

After that we had lunch and took a nap. Then we walked around, bought some black market items, ate gelato, watched some street performers, and ate dinner right in front of the pantheon! The view was absolutely incredible!! And there was a guy playing the accordion right in front of us. Perfect way to end our Europe adventure! Ciao Italia!

Ostia Lido

This morning we got up at 6 am because our hotel had tricked us into getting up for a tour of the Vatican. When we went to the front desk they were like "oh sorry. We forgot to book it. Have a nice day". What the bad hospitality?!?!? So we are getting up tomorrow morning again and hopefully they really scheduled it this time. Crazy Italians!

We decided to walk around the city while it was early enough in the morning that it wasn't way hot. Perfection! It was so nice to not be dying of heat!

We came back and took a nap and then decided to go to the beach! We googled "how I get to the beach from Rome" and it gave us directions to Ostia lido! We had to navigate the metro system here, but we figured it all out. It was so fun to get out of the city and go relax!

When we got back we went to dinner at hard rock cafe! We were craving some American food. It did not disappoint!

Enjoy the pics! Only one day left!

Ciao bella

Today we walked around, shopped a bit, and went to a museum. It's just pretty dang hot here.

Saturday, July 14

Today we slept in til 10! It was crazy! I woke up and thought it was 4 am but was obviously wrong. I guess we are getting a bit tired over here...

We got on the worst bus tour of my life! And it was all my idea. Poor Dev- he just goes along with the things I put us through :) it was a bus that drove us all over Rome and you can hop off whenever you want. The problem is that it is SO HOT here and the bus driver would get off every few stops for a smoke break for like 25 minutes, leaving us all in the sun. Like he literally turned off the bus, got out, walked Over to some shade and lit up a cig. I seriously thought I was going to die.

We got off a few hours later... And went to our hotel to rest for a bit in the nice air conditioned room.

We went back out and went over to the pantheon which was so cool! Then we walked over to the colosseum and went in and did an audio tour. It was way cool! This city is sweet with all of its old buildings and stuff.

We came back and showered and then went to dinner at a cute pizza place. It was delicious. One of the pictures below is of Dev lining up the bread crumbs.

We walked around some more and went to sit on the Spanish steps to people watch!

Now it's time for bed! I can't believe we only have 3 days left!

P.s. one of the pictures below is for you dad! We are doing the "Blaine face"

Friday, July 13

Today we arrived in Rome! It's pretty cool here and not really what I pictured at all! But that's how this whole trip has been. My imagination is Way off!

We checked into our hotel, which is around the corner from Trevi fountain! Then we walked around a bunch. It's such a cool city and every corner you turn there is some gigantic building or sculpture. We came around a corner today and there was the colosseum right there in front of us. So cool!

We went to McDonald's for dinner. Why do I love that place so much when I'm out of the country? I never ever eat it when I'm at home. But for some reason it makes me feel at home. Haha those nasty little chicken nuggets

P.s. it is soooo hot! I showered 3 times today! It's insane

Now for some pictures...

Florence and Bargaining!

Today we explored Florence some more! We got up early to get in line to see "the David" sculpture! That was pretty cool! And then we went to the duomo and climbed up to the top and looked out over Florence! Gorgeous!

One of the best parts of today was bargaining for a (fake) Louis Vuitton purse!! The guy was trying to sell it for 75 euros and I talked him down to 30!! It was saweet!! My tricks: act like you don't care about if you buy it or not. And start walking away when they won't go to your price. That seems to do the trick!
