CA trip

This weekend we went on a quick trip to LA and San Diego for Devin's cousin's homecoming! It was perfect weather and so hard to leave. I'm in love with California.

Saturday morning, we got up and went to work out at the country club!

Then we went to Corner Bakery for some breakfast and we saw Howie Mandel! I love spotting celebs. I'm really good at taking sneaky photos too.

We got ready and headed down to San Diego! It was so fun to see Jordan. He recently returned from serving a mission in New York!

We sat in the backyard for a while and it was perfection. The weather was amazing and we could see the ocean from where we were sitting. mmm i was in heaven. Plus I was holding the cutest baby ever who happens to be a twin. That is just double cute-ness!
Aunt Sarah (the most amazing hostess) and Devin.

That night, we had dinner at the country club. Once again- gorgeous weather, beautiful night, and great company!

The next morning we went to hear Jordan speak! He did such a wonderful job and didn't even write anything down. I was seriously impressed!

The man of the hour!

Love these 2! Not only are they cousins, but they were room mates at BYU.

It was really hard to leave! And come back to a snow storm... of course..

Til we meet again CA!

What a week

It was really hard to get off of the plane to a snowstorm.
But then I realized that I actually really like big snow storms and thinks it's really exciting.
I am an extreme type of girl- Give me really cold and stormy, or really warm and sunny, and I'm a happy camper.
So this week has been pretty fun with all the snow and such!

A few days ago we went and looked at places to live and one place we walked into had a sign that said "Beware of the one eyed cat."
Just kidding. it actually didn't say that. It said "Don't let the cat out."
But, when Devin pointed out that the cat only had one eye, I could not stop laughing.
Lawrence, the realtor, thought I was pretty crazy for being so entertained and taking pictures of it.
Of course I sent my family a group text with the pic of it.
Ash responded: Permawink.
Dad responded: Goes by the name of lucky.
and my mom did not respond... Not. Amused.

Devin taught me how to run up an escalator backwards this week.
It was a really big deal people.
I was extremely obedient as a child. and it never would have occurred to me to try it.

And yesterday, I wore my marathon shirt to support those involved with the Boston Marathon.
I ran my first marathon 1 year ago this Saturday and it was one of the best days of my life!
And I grew up being a spectator at all of the marathons and races that my dad ran.
It doesn't matter if you are a spectator or a runner- -marathons are simply THE BEST.
So much excitement, energy, and joy as people are crossing that finish line. It's one of my favorite things to watch.
It is so hard to imagine that someone could be so evil enough to try to terrorize people during such a happy event.

However, I do not feel afraid or terrorized. and none of us should!
There is much more good in this world than there is evil.
Did you see all of those helpers? All of those people running towards the chaos?
That is the type of thing that restores my faith in humanity after such evil things happen.
Let's look for the good.

which leads me to my favorite quote of the week:

Bermuda- the final post

The final post of our trip! drum roll please!

When we pulled up to our hotel in Bermuda, the crazy Bell man named Gary asked,
"Are you all moving to Bermuda?"

We loved our hotel at Elbow Beach!

Our room was incredible and I was in love with the pillows and the bed and I wish I could stay there forever! It was really hard to leave.
One night I was laying in bed and decided it would be a good idea to look up the video of the basketball guy who broke his leg. Ummm it was horrid and i'm scarred for life and I really don't recommend watching it. Sometimes my curiosity just gets the best of me.
Our room went right out to the beach! Perfection.

And the beach was heavenly! The sand was like powder and it was beautiful weather-for the most part. There were some clouds at times, but the temperature was perfect and we still managed to get some sun.

The pool was incredible too. And it was crazy how empty the hotel was! It's Bermuda's off season and so we saw about 4 families the whole time.

The boys taught me how to play pool and hold the stick thing and all that jazz. I played against Sean and we finally had to give up and leave because neither of us could hit a ball into the little pockets. Fail.

We spent part of the day exploring Hamilton! There were a bunch of cute shops and restaurants and a beautiful park.

For dinner we ate on the balcony of this yummy restaurant. We had the best view of the water.

And then we waited at the bus stop to hitch a ride back to our hotel.

It was really hard to leave this place. Loved every second of it!

Aboard the Windstar!

Saturday morning we hopped on our clipper ship! It was such a cool experience because of how small and intimate it was compared to other cruise ships. All of the staff knew our names and there were 120 staff to 60 guests. It was incredible! (Usually it's not that small in numbers, but they are in the process of crossing over to Lisbon for the summer season.)

We sailed off right at sunset. It was gorgeous! and really cool because there were dozens of ships lined up to go through the Panama Canal.

The first couple of days were REALLY rocky. There were 20 foot waves and lots of people were sea sick. It was hard to walk at all, let alone in a straight line. Luckily, Devin and I were totally fine and didn't feel sick at all. Because of the crazy weather/waves our trip was extended from 7 days to 9 days. Which I was totally fine with! But that meant we had to change all of our flights and we arrived in Denver on a Tuesday night instead of a Sunday night. I love extended vacays!

Because it was such a small boat, it was very relaxing and not a ton to do! We read a lot and laid out in the sun. Oh and we ate a lot!  It was absolutely perfect! (Really proud of myself for only gaining 2 pounds.)

This was my favorite worker, Bobby, from the Phillipines! He was the best and knew exactly what to bring me to drink at every meal. I miss him a lot!

The fam at the front of the boat.

One of the days, they let us stand on the plank at the front of the ship and they took pictures of us. I was soooo nervous!! We were traveling pretty fast and the plank is right over the water and I was just freaking out a little. I didn't let go of those railings for a second.

I was even more nervous when they had all six of us come out on the plank.

Pool time. and another one of our sweet workers, Ed.

On Devin's birthday, we had dinner on the back of the ship. It was gorgeous!

and the staff made Devin a cake and came out to sing to him!

The next night, we had a BBQ! Look how pretty that sky is!

and our favorite: dancing!!

The next morning was my birthday!! I got a birthday massage, and some sweet gifts, and lovely cards!! Oh and I had an amazing 2 hour nap (as you can see from my tired face)

We pulled into Bermuda on my birthday! Bermuda is gorgeous! and we got there after a storm, so the sun was coming through the clouds and it was the best! They don't get a lot of cruise ships (especially this time of year) and so people came out of their houses and waved to us.

I love this boy.

This is my attempt at an artsy photo:

That night, the staff brought me a cake and sang to me! They are the best and I seriously miss all of them.
Another picture with Bobby!

Don't worry- almost done with posts of our trip. The next one will be of Bermuda!
