good morning!

mornings are my favorite time of day. (how times have changed...)
Ettie is just so darling in the morning and we love cuddling with her in bed for a few minutes each morning. She's always so happy.

Morning selfie.

I can't believe how much she has changed already!

Little face. ♥

This was my view yesterday.  After Dev leaves for school, we take a little cat nap (because i'm a bit tired) and this is my view.

We've been loving the warmer weather that we've had lately! It's a bit chilly in the mornings though, so I make sure ettie is nice and cozy in her stroller. It's amazing how a walk will put her right to sleep!

I've started walking with my friend Megan. She had her baby Preston 13 days after Ettie. It was fun being pregnant at the same time and now having our little babes. I'm not even going to think about how she is moving to Virginia this summer :(

Here are the littles! Don't they look cozy? They're already great friends!
(I love how Ettie is wide awake and just looking around)

Med school race!

On Saturday, the medical school had a 2.5K and 5K!
(I'm really proud of us for getting to the school by 8am.)

Ettie loved it, of course.
Don't worry- we walked the 2.5K. And a part of my soul died a little as i watched all of the runners take off at the beginning. I can't wait to run again! But i'm being patient and just walking for now as I ease back into things. (don't worry mom.)

Doesn't he look good with a stroller? ;)

Waiting for it to begin.

The walk was really fun! We actually walked with another couple who happen to both be in medical school (very impressive.) And the girl actually helped deliver me a few weeks ago. Smallest world! It's funny because I feel like we know each other so well since she was there for one of the biggest experiences of my life! She loved seeing baby Ettie again.

There were obstacles along the course that, if completed, would take a certain amount off of your time. This first obstacle was putting on scrubs and running to a fire hydrant and then taking them off and running back. (That building in the background is where ettie was born. How cute is that?)

Another one was to put your forehead on the end of a baseball bat and run around it ten times to make yourself dizzy. Devin couldn't even stand up after. It was so hilarious.

some ettie pictures.

I am obsessed!! I can't get enough of this sweet little girl.
She has the best facial expressions! and I especially love how happy she is in the morning.
She is also a really good sleeper and sometimes sleeps for a solid 5 or 6 hours at night. It's heavenly.

Every once in a while she pulls this goofy smile. it's my favorite!

This is her easter outfit.

Nothing better than snuggling with my Ettie girl.

Her morning face.

She loves watching SportsCenter with her dad.

And her grandma Shannon came to meet her this last week!

Ettie's first party!

Ettie went to her first party last week. It was Beck's 2nd birthday! (Beck is on the left and Daphne is on the right. Ari is their other little buddy but he was under the weather and kept his distance.)

The kids loved meeting Ettie.
I love this one of Beck looking at her. He kept pointing and saying "Babyyyyyy!"

Daph LOVED holding her and didn't want to give her back. They're already besties!

Ettie meets Grandpa Bob!

Last week, Ettie's grandpa bob got to come out to meet her!! It was really fun having him here, even if it was only for a day!

devin testing out his new stethoscope from his dad. Works perfectly!

More cuddling with grandpa.

Poor guy had to get up super early for his flight! So he and ettie took a quick cat nap since ettie is so skilled at sleeping.

Thanks for coming out to visit!! come again soon!!!

the ettie photo shoot

Today we got the official pictures from our little photo shoot last week. Our friend kristen ( did the most amazing job!! We had so much fun with her and i love all of the little moments she captured. I also loved that we took the pictures at our house to keep it as natural as possible. And I must say, ettie is a spectacular model ;)

Ettie Jane

Meet Ettie Jane Rigg.
8 pounds 8.5 oz.
20 inches long.
isn't she precious??

Birth Story:
Tuesday I had really bad contractions and thought I was going into labor so we went to the hospital. Little did I know contractions are wayyyyyy worse than what i was experiencing.
Wednesday I was so frustrated because i woke up without any pain at all. I was really hoping the baby would come soon.
But little did I know...Thursday morning at 1:30 am. I woke up with HORRIBLE contractions that were already about 6 minutes apart. I woke up Devin and we waited about an hour to make sure it was legit. He is so sweet and let me squeeze his hand during each contraction.
We went to the hospital at about 3 am. and they admitted me and we were on our way! We were soooo excited and couldn't believe the time had come! I got an epidural which was the most amazing thing i have ever experienced! I have never felt so relaxed and happy.
They put me on oxygen since my oxygen levels dipped pretty low. It made Devin a little nervous, but i had no idea what was going on.
The nurses had us hang out for a few hours to allow things to progress and eventually I started pushing at 1:00 pm.
And... the epidural wore off right at the end of pushing. HOLY CRAP that hurt. But I was proud of myself for only swearing once.

But it was totally worth it for this little angel!

They actually whisked her away right after she was born because she had pooped before being born so they were worried about her. But luckily she was totally fine! And I got to hold her.

Our first family picture.

Being held by her dad for the first time. Love these two with all my heart.

We had such a hard time deciding on a name. We had a list of a few names we really liked and I was leaning toward Finley, but every time I tried to call her that it just seemed weird and like it didn't fit her. She is TOTALLY an Ettie. And so we decided to just go with it, even though it's a bit unique. By the way, it's pronounced Eh-tee. Sometimes people get confused :)

These nurses were AMAZING and took such good care of me.

Midnight snuggles during our first night together.

After 24 hours they actually let us leave the hospital! We were excited to leave and sleep in our own beds, but also a little nervous to take baby girl home!

The night we got home, my amazing friends brought us dinner! It totally hit the spot because labor makes you REALLY HUNGRY!

morning snuggles. sometimes i just cry happy tears (hormones) because i look at these two and i just love them so much!!

Isn't her hair amazing??

We captured her first smile!!

My mom and dad are in town all week!! I don't know what I would do with out them. My mom has done our laundry, gone to target a million times, kept us fed, forced me to nap, taken care of Ettie, rubbed my feet and the list goes on. I am already dreading that she has to leave on Saturday :( I might have a break down.

Grandpa Blaine

And here we are in the middle of the night. Crazy how I'm surviving off of 4 hours of sleep per night. But it's totally worth it for my sweet angel baby! I've never been so happy!
