pool and a frown.

Yesterday I really needed to get out of the house and get some fresh air. Real bad.
We decided we should go to the pool because we live to four AH-MAZING pools!

First a dress rehearsal in Ettie's hat, sunglasses, and swimsuit (even though she can't go in the pool or be in the sun) she just likes to be classy anyway.

Hangin with dad.

and then she got really tired and took a nap.

Last night she took a nap from 5:30pm-11:00pm on the couch. Longest nap ever. (i love how she likes to cover her eyes. don't worry i made sure she had an airway) Then I just moved her into her bassinet and she slept until 5 am. and boy when she woke up she was ready to party!

But then by 9:30 she got really tired again because we made her be on her tummy for a few minutes and so she started frowning! HEART. BROKEN. Isn't that the saddest face ever? She has never done this before and dev and i just laughed and laughed because it was so pathetic and then she started smiling because we were laughing. Poor baby. Hard life.

the stone of doom

We got back from LA on friday night and Ettie and I were still struggling with our colds, so we just took it easy and slept a ton on saturday!

She always wakes up soooo happy. it's the cutest thing.

I decided to stay home from church on sunday since I figured Ettie and I were still contagious with our colds and it bugs mewhen people go to church when they are sick and so I figured I wouldn't be a hypocrite ;) Anyway, Devin decided to go to church since it was father's day and they were serving pie afterwards. At about 9:30 I started getting this weird pain in my back. At first I panicked and thought I was pregnant (not sure why but that's just what popped into my paranoid brain) but then I thought that was silly and maybe I had pulled a muscle or something. The pain got worse and worse and i started to feel it in my whole right side. I text devin and said I was in pain and that my right side was hurting way bad and he said maybe I was dehydrated.
So I waited a little longer but it just got worse and worse and I couldn't even get out of bed or pick up ettie or anything.  So at 11:30 I text Devin and said "can you please come home? i'm in so much pain." (I felt SOOOO guilty because it was his first fathers day and i was making him miss out on pie after church.)

I was sooooo confused as to what it could be. The pain came on so suddenly and it was all just so weird! We thought maybe it was appendicitis because of how bad it hurt and the location of the pain so we decided to go to the emergency room at about 2:00 pm. We dropped ettie off at our friend's house (carrie and grant) and it was soooo hard leaving her! I was so sad! but at the same time I completely trust them and knew they would just hold her and love her. Plus i was pretty distracted by the pain and couldn't focus to hard on being sad.

We got to the hospital and they did an ultra sound and figured out that it was a kidney stone! They thought it was about 4 mm. and told me it would pass on its own. They also gave me some morphine which was pretty nice! While we were waiting in our room, there was another patient in our same room but just on the other side of a curtain and she had chronic back pain and wanted drugs and she was moaning and yelling in pain and swearing and using the f word and i was getting so bugged because we were literally in the same room and could hear every little thing she said. It was irritating.

So finally i yelled back, "keep in mind you're in the same room as someone else! I get that you're in pain and i'm sorry about that, but please use some different words."

and she said, " i can't control what i say! i'm in too much pain."

I didn't respond and after a few minutes she said, "so what are you in here for?" and i told her and she said, "that must be pretty painful". uhhh yeah!

And then i heard her family member say, " I can see why she was annoyed with your yelling and using the f word."

So then she apologized and claimed that she didn't know she was swearing (sure...).

It was pretty funny though. Some people just don't realize that there are other people around them. My nurse came in and was like "is everything okay?" and then she whispered, " don't worry she is leaving soon."

Hospital pic:

Devin made me a gift. we were bored.

Luckily we weren't at the hospital forever and they sent me home with some drugs!

We picked up ettie! and she was so happy! We cuddled the rest of the night. it was like she knew that we needed to take it easy :)

Morning smiles:

She has kind eyes.

So... monday night i passed the stone. I know this might be gross to some, but i think it's kinda interesting haha ... maybe that's because i live with a med student and things don't gross me out anymore.
But here is my stone! crazy how something so tiny can be so painful.

LA trip!

Last Tuesday we flew to LA to see Devin's dad!

Ettie is such a good little traveler! She has already been on 4 flights!

All smiles!

And then they fell asleep! (and so did the girl next to them. I was laughing so hard  because the girl's head was totally in the aisle and she kept getting bumped by people walking by and didn't even notice. After a while a flight attendant woke her up and told her to move her head.)

cheeks and lips. i die!

Family selfie. (we've been training ettie on looking at the camera. she does pretty well!)

She loves when her dad squeezes her cheeks.
(i'm being serious too. She always smiles when he does it)

Bob picked us up and we went to dinner at Rock Sugar and then walked around the mall.

I was so nervous about ettie sleeping well since it was her first time not sleeping in her rock n play bassinet thing. (we've traveled to utah before but my mom has a rock n play at her house so ettie slept fine.) But ettie did soooo well and slept perfectly in her little travel bassinet on the floor!! She is such a good little sleeper. Her longest stretch is 10 hours (that was the other night.) But most nights she will sleep 8 hours straight. I feel SOOOOOOOOO lucky that we have such a good sleeper!! (and don't judge me. Yes, I let her sleep on her side and i also put a blanket behind her to make her more comfy.)

Poor baby was sick for the first time.
It started with devin having a cold... and then ettie... and then me.  Ettie is such a good sport though and wasn't even that sad. Just acted kind of tired but she still was able to sleep well which helped her to recover really quickly!
But i think her sick face is kind of the cutest thing ever.

And she still would smile.

Grandpa bob loves his ettie girl!

We went shopping a lot in LA which is always a treat!
As you can see, it was exhausting ;)

Shopping for baby clothes

Shopping in Santa Monica

We went to the gym one morning.

And we kept up our tradition at having breakfast every day at corner bakery! My favorite!

We went to THE most amazing restaurant for dinner right on the beach! It was heavenly and we sat out on the deck and the waves were crashing right in front of us! It was THE BEST!

Pictures were a must! It was the perfect evening!

Summer in Denver

Last week we went to Lakeside! it's this really old amusement park and it's great! I love how ghetto and old it is and how you always feel like the rides are going to tip over. Makes it extra scary ;)

This is on the wild chipmunk- slightly terrifying. I had some serious whip lash the next day and I think it's from this ride.

Princess Ettie being carried up and down the stairs.

We went with 2 other couples. Our friends Carrie and Grant are THE nicest people ever and offered to watch our babies while we went on a few rides. They are too good to us.

And Devin watched the babies while I was a third wheel. It ruled

Me and carrie laugh hysterically on rides. I love it.

My favorite:

The little babes.
Preston and Ettie.

The guys. right before we got on the white roller coaster of death. 2 guys in front of us pulled out their cigs after the ride had started and began smoking!!! ewwwww so gross! Of course I yelled to them and said to put it out because i didn't want lung caner, but they ignored me. Luckily someone saw them on camera and security was waiting for them at the end of the ride and they were kicked out of the park.

Group picture.

Last Monday night, I decided to tell a bunch of friends to meet at the park for a picnic! I was sooooo happy with the turn out and still can't believe how many families showed up. (this picture doesn't have everyone in it).
Everyone brought their own dinner and the kids ran around and the parents hung out. Such a fun night! We feel so lucky to have met so many fun people who we have become close to. I don't know if I"ll ever be able to move away.

Ettie and her dad.

Pretty sunset.

Daphne and Ettie.
Daphne is so adorable and always wants to take a turn holding her little baby friend

Me and my girl at the end of the night. She got passed around the whole night and LOVED it.
